How we test

Same text, default settings, free version first. We publish what we saw, including what we couldn't test.

The test text

Every humanizer gets the same 109-word paragraph about AI in education, written in an obviously AI style so changes are easy to see.

Test text109 words
Artificial intelligence has fundamentally transformed the way students approach their academic work. In today's rapidly evolving digital landscape, AI-powered tools offer unprecedented opportunities to enhance learning outcomes and streamline research processes. Furthermore, these technologies enable learners to access personalized feedback, identify knowledge gaps, and develop critical thinking skills more efficiently than ever before. However, it is important to note that the integration of AI in education also presents significant challenges, including concerns about academic integrity and over-reliance on automated assistance. Ultimately, striking the right balance between leveraging AI capabilities and fostering independent thought will be crucial for educators and students alike as they navigate this new era of learning.

Steps

  • Open the tool's free page with no account and default settings.
  • Paste the test text, run once, and record time to output.
  • Save the full output and screenshots of input, output and any walls.
  • Check the output with GPTZero's free basic scan where it isn't blocked.
  • Compare sentences against the original for meaning, lost detail and readability.

What we record

  • Whether output is available without an account
  • Free input limit and paywalls or pop-ups
  • Time to output
  • Meaning kept, details lost, readability
  • Third-party detector result, marked "not tested" when blocked

Why no scores yet

A number implies we weighed everything the same way across tools. With one run per tool per text and gaps in detector results, we'd rather state plain conclusions, such as "kept the original claims in this test", than invent precision. We'll add scores once each tool has a full, comparable test.

Independence

No company pays for placement or reviews our pages before publication. Affiliate links, where we have them, are labelled next to the button.

Limits

Detector scores vary between scans and versions; tools change often. Every page carries its test date, and we re-test when a tool changes meaningfully.
